September 25….7th Annual Chamber Hub City BBQ Cook-off - This downtown event is open to the public and the Hogg Maulies will provide entertainment for the evening. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door for adults; $10 for students either way; and children ages 5 and under are free. “Students” include all elementary-high school age, plus college with a valid ID. September 19-27….Panhandle South Plains Fair – Fair admission prices: adult, 13 and over $7.00, children, under 13: $2.00, parking $3.00. All coliseum concerts are free but you must have a ticket to get in. Pick up tickets from sponsoring radio station advertisers. Tickets do not include the gate charge or parking fee. From I-27 North or South, take Exit 4 East. The fairgrounds are located on the northeast corner of Broadway and US-87. The midway opens at 1 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and operates until midnight Sunday through Thursday and 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday night.

September 26-27….Lubbock Music Festival - Headliners at the outdoor stage are '70s pop hitmakers KC & The Sunshine Band on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.; Texas country act Wade Bowen takes the stage on Saturday night at 8 p.m. Tickets to both shows are $15 and available at Select-A-Seat locations by calling (806) 770-2000 or clicking on www.selectaseatlubbock.com. All festival events take place in the Depot District, 19th Street and Buddy Holly Ave.

September 26-27…Lubbock Symphony Orchestra - “Politics and Scandal” is the opening concert of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra’s 2008-2009 season, “A Tribute To Lubbock.” The LSO inaugurates it’s 62nd season in a year of political election and change, playing music anchored in personal statement and social commentary. September 27….Texas' Last Frontier Ranch Heritage Tour -
Visit historic ranches and other sites of historical interest in far West Texas! Tour participants will board air-conditioned buses in Levelland, Texas, for a tour of the Surratt, Slaughter and 07 Ranches, as well as the historic railroad towns of Bledsoe and Whiteface...major shipping points for thousands of cattle and sheep along the Santa Fe Railroad in the early part of the 20th century. You'll visit Texas' Last Frontier Museum in Morton and the Historical Museum in Whiteface and participate in a variety of events on the town square in these communities. The amazing all-day tour culminates with a barbecue dinner and live country music! The ticket price of $65 covers the full day of events, including the bus tour, lunch, evening meal, and entertainment. September 27….Maxey’s 1st Annual Country Fall Festival - Come and enjoy a fun filled morning of fall themed activities. Sign up and learn how to create a delicious apple pie: (11 a.m. – 1 p.m. All ages $15). Make a scarecrow and win a prize for the most creative design: (9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Adults $7, kids $5). Have fun painting pumpkins and get your face painted: 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Adults and kids $5). Take a hay ride around Maxey Park: (9 a.m. – 11 a.m. All ages free). September 27….Step Out Walk To Fight Diabetes - Walkers from across West Texas (expecting 2,000+ in attendance) will be walking up to 3.1 miles to raise funds for the American Diabetes Association. There will also be music, food, and fun. Meet at the baseball fields in Mackenzie Park, just east of 4th St. and I-27; Check-in at 8 a.m.; walk begins at 9 a.m.

September 27…. 3rd Annual Rush Elementary School Fall Festival and Car, Truck And Bike Show - Car registration starts at 8 a.m.. Entry fee for the automobiles is $20. There are over 35 different classes to enter. There will also be 135 awards given out. The Fall Festival will be going on at the same time with tons of booths for the kids, a silent auction and food court. September 30….Golf For Kids -
Does your child want to be the next Tiger Woods? Maxey Community Center is offering a new class that will teach youth the basics of the swing, putting, driving, and more. Classes have been separated into two age groups. Youth ages 4-7 can participate 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, with the older group, ages 8-12, beginning at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesdays. Both groups begin on September 30 and will run for eight weeks. Cost is $25 per child, and all clubs and supplies will be provided. This is the perfect opportunity for kids to try out golf in a relaxed park setting. To register, go by Maxey Community Center. Open Monday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m. - noon and 1 - 8 p.m., Fridays 8:30 a.m. - noon and 1 - 6 p.m., as well as on Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. For more, call 767-3796. October 2…. Vino Festivo – Lubbock’s premier Art, Wine and Food Festival hosted by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lubbock. View art, participate in a live auction, giveaways, and taste an array of food presented by premier Lubbock restaurants, and wine from Caprock Winery. Tickets are limited and are now on sale: $40 single ticket / $75 couple. Sponsorships and tables are also available.
